INTERMEDIATE - HANDSEWING (ADULTS)

Service Description

Master the art of hand-sewing features like hems, buttons and buttonholes and slip stitching closures. Please bring any clothes which could do with mending, customising or decorating - we can practice our stitches on them! Needle and thread available to share. Embroidery hoops if needed. Some remnant fabric here but please bring any you'd like to use. So fun to figure out together how we can make our clothes more wearable again! With a few hand-sewing tips and tricks, you can transform a whole outfit in a few minutes, by up-cycling and customizing! We can make time in class to go over ideas for personal projects! This course can be taken with the beginners hand sewing class or alongside it. Every stitch has a different effect on different fabric, which we can try, from cotton to silk for example. Its important learn and practice on all kinds. In costume making and high fashion the stitch and the finish is crucial to the final garment. We recommend booking the 4 week block of classes to ensure beginners have time to practise the stitches on different fabrics and feel confident with techniques and before home sewing.
